Moonlight sewing 🌕🌌

Like many kids of my generation, I was hooked by the Pokémania hype which started shortly before 2000 (and continues to this day!).

People in my age group will remember the bogus cheat codes that were supposedly intended to obtain Mew, or any other legendary Pokémon. Naturally, they always used the most time-consuming methods.

Moreover, I have vivid memories of being blown away by the improvements introduced in Pokémon Gold & Silver. Amongst them is the clock system needed to obtain an Espeon or an Umbreon.

Umbreon, a Pokémon I never had the opportunity to include in my team as a young boy, is the one I wanted to pay tribute to by creating this stuffed toy that you can check out below.

A Pokémon with an appealing design which I never obtained because I didn’t understand the affection system introduced in generation 2.

As usual, here are some images of my latest creation. I hope you will appreciate it as much as I enjoyed making it.

The ears and tail pose a minor challenge, as the alternating black and yellow colours demand a fair amount of work
I am very pleased with the way Umbreon’s mouth turned out. My work is based on existing sewing patterns, which I may or may not alter, but I hope one day to be able to create my own
Could it be another Pokémon in the background?
An Umbreon versus Meowth duel is looming!

This sewing project has brought back many childhood memories, with nights spent playing Pokémon Gold & Silver filled with adventure and magic.

Hopefully, this piece will spark as much inspiration for you as it did for me. Have you got any special memories of playing Pokémon games?
Feel free to share them in the comments below, I would love to read your personal stories! 🌙✨
