Or more accurately, in present-day East Asia, but it’s the Japanese version of this legendary creature that has spread most widely in the West.
I am referring, of course, to the legendary nine-tailed fox, also known to some as kitsune (although purists might prefer kyūbi no kitsune).
These foxes were said to obtain a new tail for every century that they lived, and they also had a number of powers, but I suggest you read this great blog for the mythology aspect 😉
Anyway, time for some pictures!

I think all these little Japanese details are wonderful, but it was quite a challenge to get a good result, even with machine embroidery.

I could have chosen other colours, but what could be more representative of Japan than red and white?

You can imagine how much work it took to assemble nine tails by hand, but I think the result was worth it (and for those with a keen eye, I would like to introduce you to Lily, who appears in the background of the photograph).
On that note, and before bidding you goodbye, I have one more thing to tell you: you can now follow me on Youtube and TikTok! I can’t wait to meet other sewing enthusiasts.
